Its not great, but at least there is snow covering most everything. The ditches are still full from what i can tell, i didnt go far at all tho. My yard just looks like a ton of snow cuz it was plowed or whatever, but there still is a bit of snow, its just not the best snow. Snow is no longer rock hard, but its far from powder, its mostly just slushy and shit.. When i went, it was hard to see anything, like you cant tell if its going to be a huge bump or anything ahead of you so you cant go real fast.

Well i took it for a spin today, well a ride i guess.. Most went well, however not long before i was heading home i notice something strange, it started like ratcheting it sounded like when i would pin it. I got home and quickly saw my chain tensioner bolt way far out, i swear i tightened it but maybe i did, maybe im thinking of the xlt that i tightened, i dono. Either way ill be pulling the cover to check if its ok in there and see why in the hell it would be leaking, seal looked fine but i dono..

Also, im having a problem with the motor. Its like popping and sputtering for a second sometimes when i pin it, i think its more so only when i pin it but not sure..

I did change out the flyhweel. I did not move the stator or anything, just switched the flywheel. Reason for change is the one on there, it had a damaged magnet from when i had pulled it off the 98 xc 700 during rebuilt, it had worked fine, however i had the one off the 600 motor in good shape so i decided to just throw it on while the motor was out.

I am not sure what the deal is with it popping sometimes now, its weird. It ran perfectly fine in the other chassis. It always starts right up and runs great, just now it sometimes sputters. I did not change anything in the carbs or anything either.. I did go from the 10-62m weights to some standard 10-62's for slightly lower engagement. That shouldnt make a difference on it tho. Any other ideas to why its doing this?

O ya and i cut off the end of the 98 xc 700 tunnel and fabbed up a POS tunnel extension haha.. It dont look great, but it dont look that ridiculous either really.. It worked out somewhat nice since the snow flap and bumper and shit would just bolt right on the end of it. Im not planning to keep that on there, just til i get my other extension. I didnt get any pics tho, didnt really have time to by the time i got out to go ride some, and now its too dark to get any decent pics. Ill try for some next time i take it out.

Anyone got input on the popping? It did it again today, it seemed to stop after a while. But at first it would pop and sputter when i try to pin it or if i recall not even pinning it it would do it. It did stop doing it after a bit. I let the sled warm up for im guessing at least 5 mins before riding it too.

This is very odd to me seeing as how it didnt do this before putting the motor into this new chassis. And like i said all i did was put on a better flyhweel and the slightly different weights, both of which shouldnt have changed anything for the worse, if anyhing the flywheel should be better since it dindt have any damage on it.

Im still noticing a weird noise when i jump it, like some sort of clunking noise almost, i dont know, hard to explain. I got my chain tensioner tightened and everything inside the case looked fine, no more ratcheting sound when i pin it.

Is it timed correctly? New Plugs? Have you checked the color of the plugs yet? Clunking could be track hitting tunnel as it flexes under hard acceleration.

Timing, fuck if i know. If i recall i just tried lining the arrows up on the stator and the recoil housing like i was told. Other than that, i dont really know i guess. Maybe i had it timed slightly advanced or whatever to accomodate for the pipes, however i have not changed the timing at all and it was working great with the stock pipe in the other sled.

I have no put new plugs in it. I should do that tho.

If i recall i checked them once in the old chassis, they looked decent color brown. But i noticed when i was putting the engine in the new chassis that the plugs were pretty black so that could be a problem i guess. Ill put new plugs in it, might help.

It doesnt clunk when i accelerate, that was the chain case when the tensioner bolt came loose, it no longer does that when i pin it. Now it just makes a noise when i get a little air. It could be the track tho, i suppose ill check the tension on that more closely.

Nope it did not. Im guessing it will be here tomorrow or so. I also found a couple 98 rmk extensions now after i bought that other damn one haha.. I believe i found one for 25 plus shipping, prolly buy that one and try to resell the 144 one, or keep it. If i can make money off it ill prolly sell it or whatever. It is working just fine with the POS i rigged up with the tunnel off the other sled tho haha..

What plugs should i run in this motor? I have been using either br9es or br9eya or some shit like that if i recall.. Its the equivalent to the br9es but its supposed to resist fouling better i heard. I dont recall the exact number but it was something with a Y. Right now it has br9es plugs in it. NGK is easily available so dont want to run champion plugs

The straps on the front arm of the suspension? Should they be tight or loose or what?

I've always ran the NGK 9es plugs and had little to no fouling ever.

No. I am gathering parts and going to do everything this summer. I have a list in my head of everything that I am gonna do. This sled has to last me for a few more years so I am going to upgrade some stuff this summer to make it more fun for those few years.

Yep. Xtra 10 all the way around. Plastic ski's, clutching, freshen the motor up and shave the head, and then all of the plastic is getting painted/re done because my buddy flipped her over and he does body work so he gets to do it.

I got the tunnel extension from ebay. I dont like it haha.. It looks home made, or home made parts were put on it. I thought it was going to be an OEM or like a brand name made one, not some home made thing.

That was weird, you posted at the same time i did haha.. Sounds good. The only thing im not sure about is shaving the head on that motor, i dont think its worth it and the gain will be so small, if any, you more than likely will not notice. And if you shave it too much it prolly wont last long.

Well I have talked to a few ppl and they said I would see a difference. And in something that has 79 hp even 5hp could be noticable. Anyhow I will see how everything pans out and how much money I have at the time.
